Diodes How much mW is a typical IR diodes used in TV remote?
I'm planning of doing an invisible flashlight around 7-10Watts. I'm just new in IR's.. but i know these have been used in Handycams with night mode. Now i'm planning to use it with my DSLR for indoor photography.
If you have any suggestions how to do it... please let me know!

What are the values to look for when it comes to diodes?
I was looking for diodes to avoid having the voltage that motors create when they are shut down, bounce back into a microprocessor.
The processor outputs 5 volt values. I use that to control a TIP120 transistor which turns on and off a 12 volt voltage to power a motor. I have a resistor between the controller and the transistor. I want to also put a diode in there, but don't know what kind I should get.
If you are applying the output of the controller to the base of the TIP120, then the resistor should be sufficient. I have done this many times with no problems, both with 5V and 3.3V GPIO lines direct from the processor (C8051F320 and MCF5211).
What you DO need is to have recirculating diodes across the motor coils. These diodes would be fast Schottky, with a current rating equal to that of the motor (1N5819 for 1A, 1N5402 for up to 3A).
As an example, refer to the data sheet for the L298 dual H-bridge and look at the application notes to see what I am talking about.
