Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. In electronics, pass transistor logic (PTL) describes several logic families used in the design of integrated circuits. It reduces the count of transistors used to make different logic gates, by eliminating redundant transistors. Transistors are used as switches to pass logic levels between nodes of a circuit, instead of as switches connected directly to supply voltages . This reduces the number of active devices, but has the disadvantage that output levels can be no higher than the input level. Each transistor in series has a lower voltage at its output than at its input. If several devices are chained in series in a logic path, a conventionallyconstructed gate may be required to restore the signal voltage to the full value. By contrast, conventional CMOS logic always switches transistors to the power supply rails, so logic voltage levels in a sequential chain do not decrease. Since there is less isolation between input signals and outputs, designers must take care to assess the effects of unintentional paths within the circuit. An electronic component is a basic electronic element usually packaged in a discrete form with two or more connecting leads or metallic pads. Components are intended to be connected together, usually by soldering to a printed circuit board, to create an electronic circuit with a particular function (for example an amplifier, radio receiver, or oscillator). Components may be packaged singly (resistor, capacitor, transistor, diode etc.) or in more or less complex groups as integrated circuits (operational amplifier, resistor array, logic gate etc.) Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 158 Publication Date: 2010/08/03 Language: English Dimensions: 6.00 x 9.02 x 0.37 inches

PullUp Resistor

PullUp Resistor

$105.14

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Pullup resistors are used in electronic logic circuits to ensure that inputs to logic systems settle at expected logic levels if external devices are disconnected or highimpedance. They may also be used at the interface between two different types of logic devices, possibly operating at different power supply voltages. A pullup resistor weakly pulls the voltage of the wire it is connected to towards its voltage source level when the other components on the line are inactive. When all other connections on the line are inactive, they are highimpedance and act like they are disconnected. Since the other components act as though they are disconnected, the circuit acts as though it is disconnected, and the pullup resistor brings the wire up to the high logic level. When another component on the line goes active, it will override the high logic level set by the pullup resistor. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Adiabatic Logic (Hardcover)

Adiabatic Logic (Hardcover)

Adiabatic Logic is a potential successor for static CMOS circuit design when it comes to ultra-low-power energy consumption. Future development like the evolutionary shrinking of the minimum feature size as well as revolutionary novel transistor concepts will change the gate level savings gained by Adiabatic Logic. In addition, the impact of worsening degradation effects has to be considered in the design of adiabatic circuits. The impact of the technology trends on the figures of merit of Adiabatic Logic, energy saving potential and optimum operating frequency, are investigated, as well as degradation related issues. Adiabatic logic benefits from future devices, is not susceptible to Hot Carrier Injection, and shows less impact of Bias Temperature Instability than static CMOS circuits. Major interest also lies on the efficient generation of the applied power-clock signal. This oscillating power supply can be used to save energy in short idle times by disconnecting circuits. An efficient way to generate the power-clock is by means of the synchronous 2N2P LC oscillator, which is also robust with respect to pattern-induced capacitive variations. An easy to implement but powerful Power-Clock Gating supplement is proposed by gating the synchronization signals. Diverse implementations to shut down the system are presented and rated for their applicability and other aspects like energy reduction capability and data retention. Advantageous usage of Adiabatic Logic requires compact and efficient arithmetic structures. A broad variety of adder structures and a Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer are compared and rated according to energy consumption and area usage, and the resulting energy saving potential against static CMOS proves the ultra-low-power capability of Adiabatic Logic. In the end, a new circuit topology has to compete with static CMOS also in productivity. On a 130nm test chip, a large scale test vehicle containing an FIR filter was implemented in Adiabatic Lo

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Depletionload nMOS/NMOS (nchannel metaloxidesemiconductor) is a form of nMOS logic family which uses depletionmode ntype MOSFETs as load transistors as a method to enable single voltage operation and achieve greater speed than possible with pure enhancementload devices. This is partly because the depletionmode MOSFETs can be a better current source approximation than the simpler enhancementmode transistor can, especially when no extra voltage is available (one of the reasons early pMOS and nMOS chips demanded several voltages).
