Diode Transistor Logic Gates
which material(s) is used in production of electronic components such as transistor, diode, logic gate & ics ?

Silicon and germanium have been the overall main materials, up until the last decade or so. Increasingly now you have other compounds being used such as SiC,AlP,AlAs,GaN,GaP,GaAs,GaSb,InP,InAs,InSb,ZnS,ZnSe,ZnTe,CdS,CdSe,CdTe,PbS,PbSe, and PbTe, as well as numerous 3-element combinations.Of course, SiO2 is still used to create windows for etching and as material for MOSFET gate dielectrics.Ag and Au are used for as contact materials. Pass Transistor Logic

Pass Transistor Logic

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. In electronics, pass transistor logic (PTL) describes several logic families used in the design of integrated circuits. It reduces the count of transistors used to make different logic gates, by eliminating redundant transistors. Transistors are used as switches to pass logic levels between nodes of a circuit, instead of as switches connected directly to supply voltages . This reduces the number of active devices, but has the disadvantage that output levels can be no higher than the input level. Each transistor in series has a lower voltage at its output than at its input. If several devices are chained in series in a logic path, a conventionallyconstructed gate may be required to restore the signal voltage to the full value. By contrast, conventional CMOS logic always switches transistors to the power supply rails, so logic voltage levels in a sequential chain do not decrease. Since there is less isolation between input signals and outputs, designers must take care to assess the effects of unintentional paths within the circuit. Logic Gate

Logic Gate

$103.56

A logic gate performs a logical operation on one or more logic inputs and produces a single logic output. The logic normally performed is Boolean logic and is most commonly found in digital circuits. Logic gates are primarily implemented electronically using diodes or transistors, but can also be constructed using electromagnetic relays, fluidics, optics, molecules, or even mechanical elements. In electronic logic, a logic level is represented by a voltage or current, (which depends on the type of electronic logic in use). Each logic gate requires power so that it can source and sink currents to achieve the correct output voltage. In logic circuit diagrams the power is not shown, but in a full electronic schematic, power connections are required. $70.1

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Like NAND gates, NOR gates are socalled universal gates that can be combined to form any other kind of logic gate. For example, the first embedded system, Apollo Guidance Computer, was built exclusively from NOR gates, about 5,600 in total for the later versions. Today, contrary to popular belief, integrated circuits are not constructed exclusively from a single type of gate. Instead, EDA tools are used to convert the description of a logical circuit to a netlist of complex gates (standard cells) or transistors (full custom approach). Hazard (Logic)

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In digital logic, a hazard in a system is an undesirable effect caused by either a deficiency in the system or external influences. Logic hazards are manifestations of a problem in which changes in the input variables do not change the output correctly due to some form of delay caused by logic elements (NOT, AND, OR gates, etc.) This results in the logic not performing its function properly. The three different most common kinds of hazards are usually referred to as static, dynamic and function hazards. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Adiabatic Logic (Hardcover)

Adiabatic Logic (Hardcover)

Adiabatic Logic is a potential successor for static CMOS circuit design when it comes to ultra-low-power energy consumption. Future development like the evolutionary shrinking of the minimum feature size as well as revolutionary novel transistor concepts will change the gate level savings gained by Adiabatic Logic. In addition, the impact of worsening degradation effects has to be considered in the design of adiabatic circuits. The impact of the technology trends on the figures of merit of Adiabatic Logic, energy saving potential and optimum operating frequency, are investigated, as well as degradation related issues. Adiabatic logic benefits from future devices, is not susceptible to Hot Carrier Injection, and shows less impact of Bias Temperature Instability than static CMOS circuits. Major interest also lies on the efficient generation of the applied power-clock signal. This oscillating power supply can be used to save energy in short idle times by disconnecting circuits. An efficient way to generate the power-clock is by means of the synchronous 2N2P LC oscillator, which is also robust with respect to pattern-induced capacitive variations. An easy to implement but powerful Power-Clock Gating supplement is proposed by gating the synchronization signals. Diverse implementations to shut down the system are presented and rated for their applicability and other aspects like energy reduction capability and data retention. Advantageous usage of Adiabatic Logic requires compact and efficient arithmetic structures. A broad variety of adder structures and a Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer are compared and rated according to energy consumption and area usage, and the resulting energy saving potential against static CMOS proves the ultra-low-power capability of Adiabatic Logic. In the end, a new circuit topology has to compete with static CMOS also in productivity. On a 130nm test chip, a large scale test vehicle containing an FIR filter was implemented in Adiabatic Lo

Logic Gates: NOR

which material(s) is used in production of electronic components such as transistor, diode, logic gate & ics ?

In transistors and diodes, the materials used are silicon (Si), Phosphorus (P), Galium(Ga), Arsenic (As), Aluminium (Al) and Carbon and plastic for outer covers and Copper connecting leads. Silicon is the main material, the others are used for doping purposes.

Logic gate and IC's are usually made of MOSFETs and transistors. The are made of Si, Carbon, Oxide materials, Copper and the other doping materials Al, P, Ga, GaAs, As etc. Their outer cover is made of heat resisting fibre, plastic and carbon composit materials. The internal connections of the IC are made with very low resistive materials such as gold (Au) and silver (Ag).
