**Look at the 1st diagram at the source.
An ac sine wave is applied to the input.
The half cycle when the top terminal is Positive,
D1 allows the top terminal of C1 to charge positively
to Vin peak.

Similarly for the other half cycle, when the lower supply
terminal is positive, D2 allows C2 top also charges to positive Vpeak.

As C1 and C2 are in series aiding, the resultant voltage across the
pair is 2 * V peak.
The result is Vout DC = 2Vin. Question ANSWERED.

Be clear that the Vin is Vpeak, not Vrms or Vp-p

A disadvantage of this circuit is that there is
no common connection between the input and output terminals.

The second Voltage Doubler circuit has a common input and
output terminal, and it operates as follows;

It consists of a clamper in series with a peak rectifier.
For this reason it is known as a Cascade Voltage Doubler.

When the lower terminal of the ac supply is positive,
D2 allows the right terminal of C1 to charge to + Vin peak.

Later when the top input terminal is at positive V peak
above the lower common, C1 still has it's Vpeak.
The two Vpeaks add to 2Vpeak at this time.
This 2Vpeak, via D1, charges top of C2 to +2Vpeak.
Clearly this C2 voltage is the circuit output voltage.

In the above examples, no account is made for diode
voltage drop, or the effect on output voltage due to loading.
