Who would not want to be James Bond, the spy master with his sex appeal, cunningness, and gadgetry? Unfortunately, not all guys have the first two attributes. However, with today's advancements in technology, tools of the spy trade can be readily available to the public such as voice changers and bug detectors. One fairly new item in the market that comes to mind is called the DVR Spy Pen. It not only records audio and video but is also writes, perfect for recording somebody candidly.

 

The Spy Pen measures about 5.75 inches in length and 0.5 inch in diameter. Just twist it clockwise and out comes the ball point cartridge. It has a built-in lithium ion battery that fully charges in just approximately 45 minutes and has a battery life of about 2 hours. Since it has an internal memory of 2 gigabytes and consumes less than 500 kilobytes per minute of video file, the recording time can be extended up to more than 8 hours! The Spy Pen consists of a camera, mike, USB, record and power light, ON/OFF power button, and a pin hold reset. It comes with a USB adaptor charging cable and a mini CD manual.

 

Since the Spy Pen has a built-in DVR, digital video recorder, all you do is pull the pen in half to expose its USB 2.0 and plug it in the USB port of your computer to view the video in AVI format, which is made possible by downloading AVS Media Player avs4you. To activate the DVR Spy Pen, simply press the ON/OFF button on top once and the camera will be on pause mode, indicated by the LED's, light emitting diode, amber color. Press the button once more and the camera will be on video mode as indicated by the LED turning blue. Press the button one more time and the camera will revert to pause mode with the LED turning amber again. To turn it off, just press the button for about 5 seconds until the LED goes off. In addition, the mike has a range of about 15 square meters. One good feature that the pen has is that just in case the battery runs out of power, all video files in its memory will be automatically stored.

 

The DVR Spy Pen is an invaluable law enforcement and investigative tool for recording testimonies, statements, confessions, and incidents. Plus, it can also be a great back up video recorder. I have tested a couple and found out that the video resolution, even in low light conditions, and sound clarity was adequate. You can always clip it on your shirt, which makes it available all the time. Who knows when you might have a "Kodak moment?"
