Diode Polarity
DC polarity mistake. should i start to worry?
I recently bought a Dj Mixer (omni control from Numark). It says that it can accept a 6V 1A DC power adaptor. There was no indictation of poloarity no were. I tried to contact support but with no success.
I decided to give it a shot and try (silly me but anyways). I first got it wrong and left it connected for just about a second or less. Then i switched polarity and everything seems to work well. But I am still worried if i damaged some things which i dont know about.Since i read a lot about fried diodes and stuff.This is mixer with a soundcard in-built. Could something go wrong with it? Can 6volts damage the equipment?
this device can be powered by USB too
and i didn't hear or smell anything
It is possible this is protected internally with a simple rectifier in series with one of the supply lines.
If the polarity is inadvertently reversed, then no damage occurs.

Why is it important to be careful about diode polarity when you connect the diode in a regulator circui?
If the diode is being used to regulate voltage (zener), it must be put in correctly or the circuit won't function. Put in correctly it will begin to pass current only when the design voltage level is exceeded. It you put it in backwards it will conduct immediately making the regulated voltage 0
