Laser Diode Packaging

Micro DC Motor used as alternator?

I need to make a micro steam turbine that can produce 10-20watts and is in a total package no larger than 3"x3"x0.75"(T) with electronics, turbine, alternator, belt, and diodes. I am looking for information on small DC Permenant Magnet Motors being used as alternators. The power source comes from a vast network of heat collecting water coils. Four nozzels will be used with a turgo style turbine.

Where should I look for an appropriet alternator and what do I need to know to efficiently use one as I plan to?

I want to stress small, but durable.

As mentioned, a permanent magnet dc motor will produce a dc current when used as a generator.

The main thing to look out for when selecting a motor to use as a generator is efficiency. The motor rating is its output power. It will give some power less than that when used as a generator. I have no idea how much less on a permanent magnet motor so would advise to go on the big size i.e. 15watt motor to produce 10watts out.
