I would like to start building things with circuits. I have a pretty good understanding of the logic behind it, but I need help with resistors, capacitors, diodes, IC's.

Is there any books you can recommend on the subject?

You know, you won't get better grounding that to purchase the ARRL handbook. Other books on circuitry might frighten you, and assume a modicum of knowledge. You might like to look up logic circuits on the net, but I have great book that I have had for 30 years on logic... First learn the basics ... Good luck
