I removed the standard belt driven fan in my vehicle and installed an electric one. Then I designed a little circuit with a thermostatic switch, a manual override switch and a light to tell me when the fan was running. The problem is that when I drive down the road, the air spins the fan and generates power which causes the light to light at the wrong times. Where can I buy a diode capable of handling 20-30 amps?
If you don't want to waste the power, use a 30 amp relay to control the fan and connect the light to the relay coil. But 20W is small compared to the 200kW or so that your engine probably produces!

Is the light emitting diode (led lights) harmful to the humans or the enviorment in any ways?
The emissions aren't any more harmful than any other light source. And the efficiency of the LED is many times that of other light sources reducing electric consumption at home and demand for batteries. A standard incandescent bulb is only about 2% efficient. A compact flourescent is only about 8% efficient and contains mercury. An LED is about 80% efficient and contains no toxic materials that I know of.
