Diode Light Bulbs
How can I construct this chip?
Since I am pretty new to electronics, and I want to learn how each part works in a circuit, I want to make a system that checks the light outside with a photo diode. With this "data," I then want the chip to directly adjust the power sent to the light bulb, so that the brighter it is outside, the dimmer the bulb will be. Any suggestions? If you can, schematics and/or explanations on how the circuit works would be greatly appreciated. Please don't post useless comments that are completely irrelevant to my question.
Thanks for the input Carl P, but frankly, I want to do everything by myself. I want this to be a DIY project. No easy way out unless that is the only way.
look up the working of a dimmer switch, particular the chance of hooking up inputs to it.
You would use the photocell to regulate (or shunt) the voltage accross the dimmer switch. This may not even require a chip as such, considering you are working with a 110v light bulb.

: Question About Blinking Light on Two Power Surge Protectors?
Hello All,
I have a Monster Cable Serge Protector and for the past year and a half, I have a blinking power light. This also happened with another unrelated surge protector. In both cases, all electronics performed great and still do. (TV, VCR/DVD Player/Digital Cable Box connected to the Monster Cable Serge Protector and an unrelated serge protector that I had once connected to an old word processor. What would cause this kind of reaction? It's been this way for almost two years with no problems. Could this just be a power bulb, a diode light going bad, especially if the functionality of everything else is excellent?)

Yes, just the LED light of the switch. Just a low power indicator. I bet it blinks randomly also.
