Diode Lamps

I am trying to build an automatic room light controller that will turn on a lamp when a person enters a room and maintains it in the on state as long as the room is occupied. once the room is empty, the lamp will switch off. I intend to use a PIC for this project, together with an infrared emitting diode and phototransistor for detecting entry and exit. But my major problem is making the circuit direction sensitive. How can I differentiate between entry and exit? I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks
Yes, using 2 photo eyes will solve the direction problem.
You can even start counting the people in and out.
Just incase there's some tail gating, I would suggest using a software timer in the pic to kill the lights after say 2 hours or so.

whats th cost of new "oled lamp"??? or other oled stuffs!!!???
its actauly a "organic light emmiting diodes" oled ! they were recently invented !!! and are highly eco freindly!!
Well, if you consider 1960 as recent, then I guess yes they are new technology... Meaning, that the technology is old... The ability to actually manufacture those little devils cost effectively is more recent...
Keep in mind that OLED's only differ from standard LED's on their emissive layer in a grid format (Think Panels)... Meaning, they are very similar, and OLED's are not produced by themselves because LED's are pretty easy on the environment as well..
If you want to feel you are doing something good for the environment, why not just go buy you some LED lights for your house or something... Considering the 15K life of these bulbs, they should give you at least 10 to 15 years of feel good enjoyment... So what will it accomplish ??? Nothing, but that really wasn't the point anyway I think...
