Diode Lamp Circuit
how to make a L.E.D.?
i would like to make a L.E.D. but don't know how.
i want to make the actual diode not a lamp or circuit board.
links with pics would be nice. but i am fine with any form of information to make a Light Emitting Diode.
Normal red LEDs are made from gallium arsenide, so you would need to get some of this to start with.
I'm not sure what this has to do with programming ?

How does this solar charger work?
I recently found a solar charged tiki lamp in the trash and decided to take it home to see how it works, but it's kind of confusing me.
My voltmeter says that under the sun's full brightness this 1.5x2" solar panel puts out about .25v (that's one quarter of 1 volt). It's connected to a lamp / battery holder and has a comparator circuit to know when it's charging and when to turn in the light..
..but it's the charging that interests me. The negative terminal of the solar cell goes straight to the negative on the batteries (2 x 1.2v NiCDs), while the positive goes through a Schottky diode and then to the battery.
I always thought Schottky diodes had a voltage drop of around .2v to .4v, which would be more than the solar cell produces.. how does this charge the battery?
What is the input impedance of your voltmeter? You might be dropping some voltage while measuring it.
Try putting the solar cell to an op-amp circuit with a gain of 1, to prevent loading during measurement.
