Diode Keys
The difference between diodes/project use?
Hello,
I'm trying to build a 8 button control pad for a controller...
I need to use diodes (I believe) to block the signal coming from one button to the next.
I believe that diodes are the way to go, and I was really wondering what diode I should use and the orientation.
I need to use Surface mount due to size constraints, and would (if possible) like a mouser or digi-key part#.

EDIT: There won't be any added current, just what the controller pads are supplying by themselves. so will i need anything else?
The basic function of and open/closed switch with no feedback to a shared switch line...
any old rectifier diode will do. it doesnt need to be fast if it is for human I/O. Make sure you limit the current with a big enough resistor (1k-10k).

just kind of small to solder by hand, doable with magnification and a good soldering station

97 stratus repair question?
have a 97 dodge stratus and recently the battery light came on, well i checked it out and the battery light was off i turned on the loads and it came back on. So i had a starting test done and alternator and battery turned up good but it said somthing was wrong with the current diode? Well as soon as i got the car back i turned it on and drove off it started making a metal sounding grinding noise didnt seem to be coming from the engine possibly underneath car? I went to shut it off and it woudnt it just kept trying to start with the key off so i turn the key foward it would start and again id turn the key off and same thing it just sat there trying to start. eventually i turned it back on and everything was normal so i drove it for a couple of days and now the problem started back up again and my girlfriend just told me the key also got stuck to where she coudnt turn it back to pull the key. Does it sound like i have two problems here? and does anyone know what they are? thanks
1alternator diodes are bad in your alternator..you need a new alternator
2starter is grinding the torque converter and it may have broken your teeth on the torque converter
3your ignition switch is going out or you do not have the vehicle completely in park before trying to remove the key
