why we use a diode (semiconductor) instead of a simple conductor(like copper wire) in elecronics circuits?
why we use a diode (semiconductor) instead of a simple conductor (like copper wire) in elecronics circuits if we have to obtain only current flow from a diode,,which can be obtained the same from a copper wire also.

The defining characteristic of a diode is that it only conducts in one direction, unless it is a zener diode (another topic altogether). This is important in several areas:
1. Rectifying an AC signal to get DC.
2. Demodulating an AM signal.
3. Logic- determining when a signal has gone low or high.
4. As a forward voltage drop of about .7V for a voltage reference.
5. And about a hundred more ways.
A copper wire is impervious to direction of flow, so unless the diode is superfluous, then you need a diode.
