Diode Clipping Circuit
Diode Clipping Circuit
Can someone please answer the following questions about electronic components for an assignment? Please!!?

I need all the questions (below) answered for each component listed below:

1. FOR EACH COMPONENT EXPLAIN ITS PURPOSE.
2. DESCRIBE WHAT IT WOULD DO IN A CIRCUIT.
3. IS IT A SEMI CONDUCTOR.

(what is the difference in question 2 and 3)

-resistor
-variable resistor
-electrolytic capacitator
-MKT capacitor
-green cap capacitor
-NPN transistor
-PNP transistor
-LED
-power diode
-signal diode
-momentary switch
-toggle switch
-battery clip
-transformer
-speaker
-light dependant resistor
-microphone

if you dont know all of them, can you please give me some web sites, thanks.!!

Resistor - controls the flow of current - same - Not a semi
Variable Resistor - Same as Above adjustable - not a semi
Electrolytic Cap - Holds a charge, blocks DC current, Polarized for use in one polarity (+/-) only, tend to be high value - filters out noise - not a semi
MKT Capacitor - Same as Above but usually smaller in value range - not a semi
Green Cap Capacitor - very small value but like other Caps
NPN Transistor - semiconductor device, regulates current - uses positive current from Base to Emitter to increase current through the device, used in amplifier and switching circuits.
PNP Transistor - Same as NPN but uses negative current from base to collector to control current through the device.
LED Light Emitting Diode - semiconductor device that emits light when current passes through it
Power diode - semiconductor device that allows large amounts of current to flow in one direction only - used in power circuits to suppress transformer fly back and to rectify AC voltage to DC
Signal Diode - semiconductor device like power diode but with smaller current capacity - used in logic circuits and small signal applications
Momentary Switch - device that provides momentary current path - can be semiconductor or mechanical
Toggle switch - device that provides switchable stable current path - can be semiconductor or mechanical but usually thought of in machanical switch sense
Battery Clip - mechanical device that connects a circuit to a battery
Transformer - two or more coils of wire wound on a common core that magnetically transfers AC voltages from one coil to another - not a semi
Speaker - device that acts as a transducer to convert voltages to sound - can be semi or coil and magnet
Light Dependant Resistor - a resistor (see above) whose value changes when light strikes the device
Microphone - exactly like a speaker only works in reverse to change sound waves into electrical signals

Harley Benton GA5 Metal

please explain me about clipping and clamping circuits?

it is in diode uses

1) Clipping : clipping is nothing but the process of cutting / chopping off any desired amount of an AC signal / waveform.

for example, if u have a signal of 7 VAC, and u want to feed it to a system which accepts only 5 V signal, then clipper can be used to chop off excess 2 V. diodes can be used in Clipping.

where as,
2) Clamping is raising / adding / boosting the input signal by any desired voltage value.

Ex; consider an electrical systems accepts only 5 V as an i/p, but u have 3 V signals. By Clamping this i/p, u can raise it value to apparent 3+2=5 V value.

note: clam piing is no Amplifying.
