Difference in ccd and cmos sensors of digital slr cameras? Which technology is better and why ?

Hi ! I am planning to buy a digital slr camera . I have studied various aspects of current technologies available and have a few confusions regarding a few things. One of them is the ccd or cmos censor of slr . Plz help me in this regard. thanks

In my opinion, it shouldn't matter much on your decision even though one may theoretically be better than another. Instead, I'd recommend comparing output images between cameras. On dpreview.com they review cameras based on image quality, amongst other things.

What is the difference in quality of photographs taken by this 2 different sensors.

At this point, they are comparable. For years CMOS was lagging behind CCD in quality, but that is no longer the case. From the standpoint of the manufacturer, CMOS consumes less power and is cheaper to manufacture. I would say that certainly there are more cameras that use CCD than CMOS, but that's simply because most manufacturers went that route to begin with.
