hooking up PS3 optical digital audio out to rca inputs on receiver?

Is there a way to hook the optical digital audio to rca inputs of a home theater system. I have the audio of the a/v output going to the rca inputs of my home theater system. Every 8 or 10 secs. it clicks out with a click sound. Maybe the signal input is too high? Is there an adapter or box?? thanks.

You can't directly connect optical to RCA ... you would need a optical >> analog stereo converter (and would lose surround sound). You can buy one for under $50 (See link for one source), but I would only do it if you have no other options.

Almost all A/V receivers sold in the last 10 yrs have optical (TOSLINK) and/or digital coax (orange RCA jack) audio inputs. The two are functionally identical, and handle multichannel (e.g. 5.1 Dolby digital) of high quality. So check the instruction manual / specs on your receiver. If you don't have an optical input, but do have a digital coax input, on the receiver, you can buy optical to digital coax converter (See link below).

Playstation 3 with HDMI and Digital Audio (optical) help?

I have a Playstation 3 and I want to know if I have the PS3 connected thru a HDMI cable can I also use the Digitial Audio (optical) at the same time? I want to connect the HDMI Cable to my HD projector and use the Digital Audio (optical) to connect it to my sound system I have at my houseso I ahve great video quality HD and also a great sound? So I was sondering if I could have the HDMI and the digital Audio (optical) in uable at the same time thru the PS3?

It matters what you mean by using both HDMI and optical audio out at the same time

HDMI outputs both audio and video, so...

If you want to have audio output over HDMI and optical at the same time, no, it's either one or the other

If you want to have video through HDMI and audio over optical, yes, you can use both (I have the same setup)
