Lie detectors typically rely on a number of physiological measures (heartbeat, respiration, etc.). You may be able, with mechanical device and *a lot* of talent and observation, to record the information you need and analyze it. As usual with the device, though, there is always a margin of error.

why output signal of optical fiber reduces in amplitude with an increase in input frequency?

I am currently doing a project on an optical fiber link. The link is to transmit audio signals through the fiber, using amplitude modulation. I managed to design and build a circuit using an infra-red photo-diode and photo-transistor, emitter and detector respectively. I tested the circuit by sending down signals from the signal generator and it seems that the higher the input frequency, the lower the output voltage(or amplitude) at the detector? Why is this so? I know that it can't be fiber attenuation since fibers don't affect frequency so what is the problem? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I think that it is due to the circuit you are using. It seems unlikely the fiber is involved, assuming the source and detector are properly coupled to it.

For example, the photo-diode is a current source with a relatively high impedance, and a small capacitance downstream (cable and amplifier) will act as a low pass filter, especially with low light levels. There could be other parts of the circuit that have a restricted frequency response too. Also what are the frequencies involved?

Determine the photo diode current, which will give an idea of the impedance involved. Look up the capacitance for the diode, and think of that as a first order RC filter.

If you analyse the circuit using the signal generator and an oscilloscope you should be able to find where the problem lies, remembering it could be a combination of various parts. If you can provide the circuit with component values it might be possible to determine the problem. I expect you are just modulating the IR beam intensity with the sound level. There needs to be some IR signal when there is no modulation for AM, and modulation will vary around this level.
