Does starting birth control for the first time stop your current period?
I'm 19 years old and just started taking birth control yesterday. A few days prior I had light spotting and figured that it was the start of my period. I went to the doctor yesterday to get the pill and right before I began bleading slightly heavier like a normal period. The doctor told me to start my birth control that day since my period had begun. When I woke up this morning and changed my tampon, there was no blood on it and my flow has been very light the rest of today. Is this what is supposed to happen. It makes sense if it is, I suppose. But it just freaks me out al ittle since I've never been on birth control before.
yes it can, when you get to your placebo pills your period should return some women spot for the first month or so until they get used to the pill. if it gets real bad you might need a different dose and should ask your doctor.
