A coupling coefficient is the extent to which the power or energy from one system passes to another. So, in the case of laser propulsion, it would be what fraction of the power of the laser gets converted to power of the projectile. A coefficient of 1 would mean 100% gets coupled, a coefficient of 0 means 0% gets coupled, and 0.5 means 50%. Anything over 1 or under 0 would be unphysical.

Constructed from a solid billet of aircraft aluminum the Paris cylinder walls are more than 2.5mm thick making the beacon virtually crush proof. This tremendous strength coupled with a water tight design and corrosion resistant coatings make the Paris laser superbly suited for all operations.
