A cube is oriented such that one of its corners is at the origin and its edges are parallel to the x, y, and z axes as shown to the left. The length of each of its edges is 1.7 m. What is the flux through the cube if the electric field is given by: E= -4i +(6+3y)j ? i and j are vector directions.

We have E = -4i + (6+3y)j

we know

del dot E = flux/volume

del dot E = d(E)/dx + d(E)/dy

= 0 + 3 = 3

now we know dvolume = dxdydz

we know sides are from 0 to 1.7m

total flux = integrate (del dot E) dvolume

....= intregral (3 dxdydz)

.... integral 3dx = 3(1.7)

total flux = 3*(1.7)*1.7*1.7
