Remember the formula:
1/f = (n-1)*(1/R1-1/R2)
where f = 34.2, R1=30.0, and R2 =-40.0 (all units are in cm). or: 1/(n-1) = 34.2*(1/30+1/40) = 1.995,
or: n = 1.50

Determine the focal length of a given convex lens by UV methods
Person with normal vision looking through convex lens?
If somebody with perfect vision looked through convex glasses, would they see things as if they were short-sighted? And if someone looked through concave glasses, would they see things as if they were far-sighted?
Assuming perfect means a 0 diopter prescription using a concave (-) lens would result in multiple answers since the accomodative system could absorb/mask the prescription up to it's reserve and then the eye would act as a farsighted eye with severe focusing issues.
A convex (+) lens would again give multiple results depending on focusing distance. At infinity the lens would act like a nearsighted eye but closer than that the answer may be no effect again depending on accomodation.
