How can I make fixed colored frosting on glass, chemically?
You are pretty much limited to ion implanting - such as chrome or iron etc. This can be done electrically at ~400 C, below the melting point of glass but warm enough to allow ion migration.
Some coloration is possible using intense UV radiation(or other ionizing). Not much good except for academic interest.
Glass is pretty inert. Soda Lime implies sodium and calcium - these help the melting among other things. They do provide opportunities for ion substitution. Soda lime glass has been passivated so the Na is not so available at the surface.
You can get some effect by scratching the surface using a sandpaper with traditional organic dyes. It's not really permanent, but it won't wash off easily either. When scratched, the glass surface opens microscopic cracks which then close and "heal." If you can get some dye in there, you've stained the glass.

Where can I buy amber colored canning jars, or just some other kind of amber colored glass jars, near 66103?
I live in Kansas City, Kansas (very near Kansas City, Missouri). Where would I be able to purchase amber-colored glass jars? Preferably close by. What kind of place would sell those? Thank you!

Click on glass jars and you will see amber glass jars, the largest size of which are 62 cents apiece. I don't know whether or not they would tolerate a hot water bath, and the lids are not canning lids, but you could call and find out. Ordering online is probably your best bet. I mean, there may be something in Kansas City or the vicinity, but it will be easier to find something as distinctive as this by searching online for it and ordering it online.
