Why do so many new DIY Computer cases have doors on the front?
I'm looking to upgrade my case and I notice a very high percentage of cases have doors that cover the optical drive(s) and often the power/reset buttons too. what is the point of this? a sales guy pointed to one and said "this one has a lot, so unwanted people don't turn your computer on/off or open your dvd drive". is it for childproofing?
Well, I have an Antec P180B, and the door really dampens some of the fan noise. If you have it open, it is quite a bit louder than closed.

I think you can get all the info you need from that video as it gives you plenty of different viewpoints. As the illusion only really works from a few viewpoints all the others allow you to see the construction.
I'd grab helpful frames. Print them out large. Make a small card board model from it which you can easily optimize.I don't think the angle is very critical, the cube illusion (Necker cube) works with many drawn angles. Probably just influences from which viewpoints the illusion works.
When you are happy enlarge your cardboard model to desired size. I don't think it should be very complicated.
