Cambridge Technology What do you think about this combination of A-level choices?
For my A-levels I am going to be doing Music Technology, Psychology, Spanish and Chemistry (which is apparently very challenging).
Would this be a strong choice for uni providing I get good grades in them?
Like what about Cambridge or Oxford?
Or do they want the more traditional type subjects like maths, english lan/lit etc?
Any Ideas?
First off, the answer above should be treated with caution as she is basing her answer on the American system which is, needless to say, very different from ours. You are not required to take any specific subjects for university bar, obviously, the one you want to study.
To be honest, Spanish and chemistry are good choices but if you want to study at Oxbridge then drop music technology and psychology. I went to Oxford and both of those subjects are treated as being 'soft', 'new' A levels and won't look that good on your application at all, regardless of the grades you get. I have a feeling that most of the other top universities will take that view too. Good universities are by their very nature highly academic and so they will want to see academic A levels as a result, such as English, history, economics, biology, etc.

i am studying engineering, 3rd year?
i like do my pg in european continents, i like to know the procedure to get the admission in best university in nano technology................is universities like manchester, cambridge, r the best one.........thank u.......what kind of preparation i should be ready with..........
Mani, since u r an engineering student, i suggest that you should try with universities in Germany because, Germany is world leader in Engineering. If you belong to mechanical or some harware engineering then, Germany is a right place for u. I will also tell you that, UK is going to be too costly if you have ur own finance. The best is, if you desire to go to Germany, see www.daad.de which is the German academic exchage and you can find universities offering courses in English and scholarships that are available...I have learnt from people that the facilities in Germany are far more better than the US..the above website should clear a lot of things u would like to know..sometimes TOEFL exam may be required but that depends on the eligibility criteria of the university u would like to apply...Good luck..
