Reliable PS3 recent news about the Sony release date is hard to track down at the moment. The reason is not a shortage of news, but because in the last 12 months, the release time frame has changed three times. Sony announced the PS3 release date would be on November 11th in Japan, and November 17th 2006 for North America prior to E3 2006.
Since then demand has skyrocketed, and eventhough PS3 is more expensive when compared to its two competiitors -next-gen consoles, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii, all major outlets presenting pre-orders in the US is sold out.
As a result of this considerable demand, ps3 recent news for the release date indicates it had to be moved back in PAL is the television standard regions. This includes the noteworhty Australasian, African markets,European, Russian, and Middle Eastern area , until March 2007.

Others have been equally quick to point out that similar delays and short supply marked the launch of Microsoft's Xbox 360 approximately one year earlier, with far fewer than Sony's 600,000 units being available on release day.
