How do I approach this problem with only variables and indecies of refraction?
A beam of light in air strikes a slab of glass n= 1.60 and is partially reflected and partially refracted. Determine the angle of incidence if the angle of reflection is twice the angle of refraction.
n = sin(x=angle of reflection) / sin(y=angle of refraction)
Given x = 2y
Plugging the values:
1.6 = sin2y/siny
1.6 = 2 siny cosy / siny = 2 cosy
cosy = 1.6 / 2 = 0.8
y = 36.87 deg
x = 2y = 73.74 deg
