Axis Align
Is this the new Axis of Evil?
the user "dangerous" just posted this link in a question and I think it deserves a little more attention here...
I did not feel at all threatened by Chavez until I saw this... I didn't think he was evil and crazy enough to align himself with the only person on the planet who is worse than Bush:

It is simply a fact that the dollar is weak, and it is a fact that these two leaders don´t like Bush and his "activities" on the world scene. So, they are meeting and talking about this, I don´t see the big deal.
I´ll try to say this politely - whenever leaders in the "rest" of the world (non-American-friends) get together and come up with ideas which don´t serve to prosper the USA, they are deemed as an "evil enemy". What is so threatening about the fact that they see the Euro being stronger and better suited to be used for oil-business? (other than the fact that it would hurt the USA?). They are just looking for an alternative.
I did not read that they are planning to "take down" the USA themselves, rather they are claiming it is "falling", along with the dollar. They don´t mind, but this shouldn´t come as a surprise.
As for threatening to raise oil prices if attacked, I think it is fair for any "threatened" state to try to scare of a potential invader, and the USA should take this threat seriously.
To end with, I´ll point out that I´m not American-bashing, nor am I a fan of Iran or Chavez. Go give me a dozen thumbs-down.... I´m just pointing things out from another perspective.

Aligning Plates by X-axis
Does the Giza pyramid star-shaft still align with the polar star as it did when built over 4,000 years ago....
Star patterns alter over time. Earth's axis of rotation "wobbles" over time, so surely old alignments should have altered accordingly.

There are so many bright stars in the sky at so many declinations, that the entire theory that pyramidal shafts were built specifically for stellar alignment should be considered highly dubious. Some pyramid shafts have bends in them, and some don't even reach the surface of the pyramid. It is far more likely that they were used as airshafts for workers in the tomb chambers during construction.
Having said that, I'm also amazed that some here (tham) are unaware that stellar declinations change significantly over time due to precession of the equinoxes. This effect is far larger than proper motion. So even if, unlikely as it seems, a particular shaft was built to align with a particular star, the star would have moved out of alignment with the shaft within a century of the pyramid's construction.
