Audio Optical Toslink
What is the superior audio connection for home theater: Optical (toslink) or Coaxial Digital?
Which of the two has superior sound? Also, are there any major drawbacks to any one of these? Thanks!!!
PS: Please don't suggest HDMI b/c my DVD has no such port.
optical is better; dgital coax cant handle more thn 5.1 sound. thers as optical can handle up to the hight signal avaible; now which is 7.1. optical can change as tech changes; coax will die soon enough

What's the advantage of using Digital Optical vs. Digital RCA?
I just bought a Bose Sound system that only has one digital optical audio (TOSLINK) input and the rest of the inputs are the digital RCA-type inputs. What are the advantages (if any) to using the digital optical input versus the digital RCA inputs, and will those differences be perceptible to the casual consumer?
just to clarify, I'm referring to the Orange RCA port marked "Digital Audio" instead of the red and white ports, which I understand to be for stereo only.
For digital audio, there is no advantage, both carry exactly the same S/PDIF signal.
Optical is immune to electrical interference, but so is a shielded RCA cable. No measurable difference in the sound, both get exactly the same bits there.
