Amp Kla
Electric Guitar Feedback Issue?
I've been playing now for a year and a half and i have a Kustom KLA 10 Amp (great little amp) and stratocaster type guitar, and the only thing i can't understand is, when i set the gain to a maximum with the drive button on, i start to get strange noises and at high volume levels I start to get lots of feedback. Does anyone out there know how to avoid this? Does it have anything to do with my guitar pickups? Any answer would be most apreciated. Thanks for your time.
It's fairly common to get feedback at maximum drive levels on any amp. To reduce the feedback you can do the following:
1. Do not play at max gain, you can try playing at 70% of the max gain level or so.
2. Do not sit right in front of the amp, this causes a lot of feedback keep your amp away from the guitar and do not face the amplifier.
I don't think changing the guitar pickups is a good idea. Find out the make of your pickups and google about it (see if they have a feedback issue). There can be a slight possibility that the feedback is caused due to pickups but it is unlikely, because you have specified that it occurs at full gain on high volume levels.
Feedback can be your friend if you know how to control it. There are certain positions (Guitar and amp positions) where you get good feedback and there are certain positions where you don't get any feedback at all. Its good to practice moving around the room and figuring out where you can get feedback and where you can control it and where you cannot.
