Air Compr
Do you take the maxigrip scope rail off to allow the compression cylinder to make contact with the trigg. sear
There must be plenty ofBSA Goldstar owners out there who have had the piston out to renew the piston seal that can answer my question. I have to move the compression cylinder to make contact with the trigger sear and then feed the piston into the cylinder and past the sear while holding the trigger on fire and pushing the trigger locking plate forward towards the muzzle, this resets the trigger,and underlever overtravel to index the magazine.The problem is the compression cylinder won't come down any further than the maxigrip scope rail lugs,it's about 2 inches from the sear. The compr. cyl. won't go over the top of the lugs, the scope rail is held by a pin, I tried to lever the rail up but it won't budge,I tried to knock the pin out but it wouldn't move, I e-mailed BSA friday morning 2.3.07, waiting for reply.This is the first air rifle I've owned so I don't know much about them, just learning. I took the piston out (bad mistake) to get the 4 spacers and washers out to fit a gasram
Why don't you try to find a Competitive Airgunners Forum, and ask one of those guys. Other than sending BSA a flurry of e-mails until they finally answer you, this might be your best bet.
There are probably a lot of knowlegable guys on such Forums on a Saturday night, why don't you give that a try?
I can tell you this, don't force the parts.
Some airguns require a special tool to compress the cyl.
If you decide to try to drive out the pin, WHICH MAY NOT BE NECESSARY, do so from the left side of the reciever.
I'd try forums first, then e-mail BSA many more times.

how much would a 1977 chevy capris with only 13550 miles be worth no rust only needs an air conditioner compr?
If you can get a glimpse of the odometer, see if any (especially the first two) numbers are a little out of line. If so, you can add 100K miles to it. Waaaay back when American auto manufacturers didn't have foresight (or faith in their product like the Japanese), cars weren't expected to last over 100K miles, so the odometers only went up to 99,999.9 miles before the numbers "turned over" and looked askew.
I find it extremely hard to believe a car that's not that "special" and is over three decades old only has 13K on it's ticker is legit. I'm not saying it's impossible, but there's a reason they say "let the buyer beware."
