How much could I sell my car for?

I'm trying to sell my car as I am buying a new one. I would prefer to sell it to someone other than a dealer. Would I be able to get a little more that way?

It's a 2000 Dodge Intrepid ES. ~123k miles. Cosmetically it's pretty good with no major scratches or dents. It still runs extremely well as I have taken good care of it over the years. Here are the problems with it though: Air conditioning doesn't work, power lock for the drivers door only doesn't work, and the light for the fuel gauge is out. The lock on the drivers door can still be locked manually. The lock actuator or one of those parts is burned out so when hitting the power lock button, that lock doesn't go down.

Overall it's still a reliable and good car. It would make a nice car for a high school kid without a lot of cash.

Any idea how much something like this could sell for?

That car has an average wholesale value of $2000 (adjusted for mileage) Selling in the winter the AC will not reduce that value that much.

Wholesale is what the car is worth at a dealer to dealer auction.

Average retail would be in the $4500-$4800 range.

The power door lock issue will not harm the value much, the AC may reduce the value by $500-$800 depending on your area.

1998 Escort ZX2 Engine versus 1998 Mercury Tracer Engine?

Can anyone tell me if a majority of the engine parts from a 1998 tracer will fit a 1998 escort ZX2? We have the opportunity to buy a wrecked Tracer for a good price and the engine is in great condition in the wrecked vehicle. we are looking to extract things like the starter, the Air conditioning system, possibly the catalytic converter, door lock actuators, and possibly other components. I have not found a decent resource on the web at this point that can tell me if the engine components would be interchangeable with the two engines.

the engine in the 1998 escort has the zx2 motor. i am really not sure about the tracer as it is not in a salvage yard and someone is selling it directly.

Check with your local Auto wrecking yard they have a book on switch outs. I need more information though you have not stated the engine size for either car .
