A logic gate performs a logical operation on one or more logic inputs and produces a single logic output. The logic normally performed is Boolean logic and is most commonly found in digital circuits. Logic gates are primarily implemented electronically using diodes or transistors, but can also be constructed using electromagnetic relays, fluidics, optics, molecules, or even mechanical elements. In electronic logic, a logic level is represented by a voltage or current, (which depends on the type of electronic logic in use). Each logic gate requires power so that it can source and sink currents to achieve the correct output voltage. In logic circuit diagrams the power is not shown, but in a full electronic schematic, power connections are required. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Like NAND gates, NOR gates are socalled universal gates that can be combined to form any other kind of logic gate. For example, the first embedded system, Apollo Guidance Computer, was built exclusively from NOR gates, about 5,600 in total for the later versions. Today, contrary to popular belief, integrated circuits are not constructed exclusively from a single type of gate. Instead, EDA tools are used to convert the description of a logical circuit to a netlist of complex gates (standard cells) or transistors (full custom approach). High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In digital logic, a hazard in a system is an undesirable effect caused by either a deficiency in the system or external influences. Logic hazards are manifestations of a problem in which changes in the input variables do not change the output correctly due to some form of delay caused by logic elements (NOT, AND, OR gates, etc.) This results in the logic not performing its function properly. The three different most common kinds of hazards are usually referred to as static, dynamic and function hazards. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. In electronics, pass transistor logic (PTL) describes several logic families used in the design of integrated circuits. It reduces the count of transistors used to make different logic gates, by eliminating redundant transistors. Transistors are used as switches to pass logic levels between nodes of a circuit, instead of as switches connected directly to supply voltages . This reduces the number of active devices, but has the disadvantage that output levels can be no higher than the input level. Each transistor in series has a lower voltage at its output than at its input. If several devices are chained in series in a logic path, a conventionallyconstructed gate may be required to restore the signal voltage to the full value. By contrast, conventional CMOS logic always switches transistors to the power supply rails, so logic voltage levels in a sequential chain do not decrease. Since there is less isolation between input signals and outputs, designers must take care to assess the effects of unintentional paths within the circuit. Rated: NASynopsis: From HBO Documentary Films. In February, 2005, artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude installed 7,500 arches (gates), curtained with orange cloth that waved and billowed and decked miles of walkways in Central Park. The gates stood for 16 days, the first unfurled by Mayor Bloomberg, who championed the project, giving it the okay after the artists 25-year quest to gain approval. Archival footage shows pro-and-con debates and various mayors and commissions turning down the project. By the end, the gates installed, the camera travels a winter landscape, orange shining through trees and reflected in ponds. Passers-by, quintessential New Yorkers, express pleasure. Art dwarfs the nay-sayers.
how many diodes be used to constract electronic AND and OR logic gates?
why are such logic gates not used in practice?
Not sure how many. Logic gates are used in practice just not on their own anymore. There a re millions of logic gates inside the computer you are using.
Positioner Rocking how do i get my baby to nap during the day?
my baby is almost 3mnths old and refuses to nap during the day, he has out grown his moses basket so iv been trying to put him down in his cot but he just keeps waking up...hes has always been like this tho.
iv tried everything, swaddling, music, rocking, holding his hand as he drifts off, singing, i even bought a sleep positioner so it would maby still feel like he was being held when i put him down...im at my wits end.
he has no problem sleeping at night its just during the day...what am i doing wrong...and how many naps should he be getting anyway?
if i do manage to get him to sleep he will only sleep for 5/10mins before waking up again...and this lack of sleep is making him cranky...HELP!!!!!
The only way my son will sleep during the day is either on me or my husband as we rock in the recliner or in his swing with the music on. He sleeps in his crib at night, but for some reason that is not the case during the day.
He was taking 3 naps, 1st and 2ns about 2 hours and 3rd about 40 min. BUT, this has changed within the past week. My son is now sleeping a total of 7 hours a day and has been very cranky. I am hoping this is just a phase and we can return to our normal sleep schedule soon.

Does anyone's baby do this... is there anything to break this habit?
I rock my daughter to sleep, but the minute I put her down she's wide awake!!! Sometimes she'll stay asleep, but for the most part she'll wake up the minute she's out of my arms (day & night). I don't mind holding her every second... But sometimes I need to put her down for a little while. Did anyone else's baby do this???
I just ordered her a sleep positioner that can be changed to different positions. Because she doesn't like to sleep flat. But other than that is there anything that I can do? Or just wait for her to grow out of it?
I also have a carrier I wear sometimes, sometimes she likes it, sometimes she doesn't.
She's only 7 weeks, so I realize it may take time.
I tried her swing & her bouncer, neither helps. Sometimes she'll stay in them alittle while... but for the most part she'll start crying.
My baby is the same way. At night I just sleep with her in the recliner. Its bad , but much easier. Plus I worry about SIDS and this way if she breathes weird I wake up. But during the day I wrap her in a blanket and rock her til she's in a good sleep. I put a blanket in her car seat to cover up the straps so the don't stick in her. Then I lay her in the car seat with the blanket kinda up over her arms. With the blanket in the car seat and over her arms it still feels like Im holding her to her I guess. She will usually sleep 2 sometimes 3 hours this way. She will be 7 weeks tomorrow. She likes to stretch out now , so im not sure how much longer this will work. Good Luck.

I'm thinking maybe $900-1000. It probably cost far more than that to build originally, but used computer prices drop fast. I would have said around $800 for the computer, but since you're including a 19 inch lcd and a very nice mouse and keyboard, I raised it a bit.
Edit: Actually, I just noticed that speaker system as well. That's an impressive sound system for a computer. I add on another $200 just for that. Maybe $1100-1300 for everything.
I agree with the first person here as well. That's a very nice setup. If you just swapped out the motherboard, processor and ram, you could rebuild it into an updated computer without much money invested. There's no reason to sell everything there since the majority of the hardware would go well with a new computer.

Doing something childish with N2 laser power supply
How do I power this laser pointer with a 5V power supply?
I have a laser pointer that uses 3 - 1.5V watch batteries. I assume that means it needs exactly 4.5V to work? What do I need to do to power the laser pointer off of my electronics projects 5V power supply?
You should probably be fine to power the laser at 5 V. It does not need exactly 5V to work.
Most electronics have a voltage tolerance, and 5V over a 4.5 V requirement is fine. A slight overvoltage is fine. Undervoltage is not.
You should add a resistor inline with the supply, though to limit the current so you don't fry the electronics. A 5 V supply and a 1 kOhm resistor will yield a mA. Read up on the datasheet of the laser to see the needed current and adjust it appropriately. (A smaller resistor will give more current. A higher resistance will give less current).
You could also build a voltage divider to divide the voltage down to 4.5.
Watch batteries are cheap, if you buy them online. A battery that might cost $5.00 at a convenience store might cost 10 cents if you buy it online.

Whoever gave u the report should have taken the time to explain the findings to you. Unless there is a doctor reading the questions on here, I`m afraid u r not going to get an explanation of the MRI impressions nor should u rely on the answers u do get. By all accounts have the doctor that ordered the test, give u the meanings of all 4 impressions found. Do not rely on non-medical people for a diagnosis.

I know people that have never completely recovered from their initial ankle sprain, because they never had the ankle looked at by a professional. Unfortunately for some, an ankle sprain will lead to fear avoidance behavior. Meaning, they are overly cautious how they use their ankle, because of fear that the same injury will occur. This is typically a person that has never saught care for their once injured ankle, and was never properly rehabilitated.
Ankle sprains are common, and they do not, and should not prevent you from returning to your sport or recreational activity. Mild and moderate sprains can be treated very successfully by the chiropractor. I've had great results with treating mild and moderate sprains. Any severe sprains, where there is absolute loss of any movement, should be referred to the orthopedist. Some sprains can also have underlying fractures, so it is imperative that a doctor of chiropractic, or any other specialist evaluate your ankle as soon as possible.
After a thorough evaluation, treatment could consist of any number of therapies. One therapy in particular, for ankle inversion / eversion sprains, is extremity joint manipulation. I find adjusting the ankle to be quite effective at helping to restore nomal function to an injured and dysfunctional area. When an injury occurs to a joint, the muscles surrounding the joint will splint and alter the motion of the joint. I have found that restoring the motion of the joints through joint manipulation, profoundly speeds up the healing time.
After getting the ankle joints and surrounding joints to a state where they are working better, I typically use kinesio tape to help with drainage of the inflammatory products. If the sprain happens during a sporting event where the athlete needs to participate, I will adjust and then use athletic tape and a local topical analgesic to get them back in play. So, timing and circumstances will also dictate the type of treatment given.
Other treatments in the early and late stages of the sprain include:
* Protect with athletic tape, removable air cast, loose lace up support * Rest – possible use of crutches, but wean ASAP * Ice – 20 min on, 1 hour intervals to control inflammation, this is most important for the first 24 hours * Compression – elastic wrap or sleeve * Elevate – helps control swelling * Pain free active range of motion (can use slushy bucket), tilt your ankle up and down and side to side, the movement will help control swelling, will help prevent muscle splinting, and will help get blood to the area (we heal with what's in our blood – so eat healthy!) * Cold Laser – Speeds up Mitochondrial ATP production * Pulsed ultra sound indirect in cold water * Electrotherapy – helps with pain control and will also indirectly decrease muscle splinting * Kinesio tape – help with inflammatory fluid drainage, will also help restore normal muscle tension, restore appropriate nervous system feedback to help improve proprioception (that is how your body knows where it is in space) * Osseous Manipulation – Get adjusted! It is a very safe procedure, and it feels great – give it a shot! This will dramatically affect alignment of your joints, help allow correct muscle tension on the joints, and wil help restore normal muscle receptor feedback ( golgi tendons and muscle spindles ) to your brain. * Anti – inflam nutrition – Vitamin C @ 1,000mg to 3,000mg per day, 1,500 mg to 3,000mg of EPA/DHA, Bromalain at 2,000mg per day. * Alternate heat and ice after the first two days of injury * Isometric exercises – contract the different muscle of the foot without moving your foot * Continue weight bearing walking * Running in swimming pool * Ice after exercise * Toe raises – flat ground – progress to step * Balance drills – wobble board, rocker board, balance sandals ( this is a huge area and lots of different exercises can be done with theses tools ) doing these drills will help you regain your confidence that your ankle is back to normal. * late rehab includes more balance and coordination drills
So, there is a ton of therapies that can be done to fix your once new ankle. This information is no substitute for a visit to the doctor. Go to a pro and get yourself looked at, you will be glad you did. Your return to the living will be much quicker. I gurantee it!
