I need to find a IR diode that can shoot about 50-75 feet with a fairly tight beam (No more than 5" @ 50ft).
I know laser would work, but i need a larger cone.

I couldn't dredge up anything on Besthongkong.com, but maybe you'll have better luck. For that kind of angle, it looks like you would need an optics kit... Any chance you could just get a high-power IR LED and crank up your output power?

Okay, just about everyone has a red laser pointer. Heck, we even sell a fine one here at ThinkGeek. But, we're pretty sure you want to be a superior geek - and doing it with a green laser is the way to go. This pointer is significantly brighter (about 50 times) than a red laser pointer and because of its unusual color it is much more noticeable. I mean come on, a 532 nm green laser wavelength is obviously superior to a laughable 650 nm red laser wavelength. And unlike a red laser, the green beam itself can be seen in mid-air in dark conditions, not just the laser beam dot. ok so i have amblyopia in my right eye. i wear glasses and used the patch a lot when i was little (4 or 5 years old). i want to make it in the army as a rifleman and i wanted to know if laser surgery can help me. i know it won't cure my amblyopic eye but can it help my vision still? it reshapes the cornea. amblyopia is a problem with the part of the brain which allows you to see. so say my cornea was messed up in shape in my amblyopic eye. lasik surgery would at least make somewhat of an improvement right? also if anyone knows the visual requirements to become a rifleman, that would be great. thanx
Laser surgery is a substitute for glasses. If glasses do not improve the vision in the amblyopic eye, surgery won't either.
Since you did wear a patch before age 6, it is quite possible that glasses and laser surgery can improve your vision. The only way to know for sure is to have an eye exam.
