‘Increasing Brightness' Of Led Light
LED Light or Light-Emitting-Diode is a semiconductor device that functions by converting electricity into light. LED Light has been in existence since 60 years; however it has become quite popular as an energy-saving lighting source only recently. As the market for the LED light increases, more efficient and advanced devices are being introduced in the market. Today, LED lights that can offer efficiency as high as 160 lumens, are available in the market. These energy-efficient LED lights devices are being increasingly preferred for different purposes, including residential lighting, office illumination, and lighting in public areas.
The lower eye-friendly brightness of the LED light can be attributed to the usage of low-pressured sodium lights in the device. An example of sodium lights are the bulbs that are used in street lamps. The earlier LED lights were capable of emitting white light only by using the colours blue, red, and green. The white light was emitted by controlling the current transmitted to each colour. However; in 1993, an innovative process by Nichia to emit white light gave a more inexpensive method to generate the white light. The process used a blue indium gallium chip coated with phosphor to generate a wave shift necessary for white light emission from a single diode.
LED light employs the energy generated by the movement of the electrons to generate light. The diodes in LED light are 1/4 th" in diameter each with each consuming about 10 milliamps to emit light at a power of 1/10th of a watt. Light produced by the mechanism of electron movement is more efficient compared to the conventional method that requires fragile filaments to emit light. The possibility of these filaments being broken is more.
Though LEDs are small, grouping of two or more LED lights makes them efficient for use in high intensity applications. LED fixtures have drivers, usually built into them, which enable the fixtures to run on standard power capacity, with a power loss of just 15-20%.
LED light used for residential purposes has an efficiency of about 20 lumens/ watt. The average light emitted by a LED light is more when compared to that of an incandescent light, which exhibits an efficiency of about 15 lumens/ watt. In addition, LED light does not emit as much heat as the conventional bulb. Hence; it can be for diverse applications.
LEDs are also durable than conventional bulbs, the reason for this being the usage of plastic bulbs as containers for the diodes, which generate power in LED lights. These plastic containers are efficient in protecting the diodes. Another characteristic of LED lights attributing to their increasing popularity is their lower power consumption; a LED light consumes 1/3rd less power than conventional bulbs.
LEDs exhibit great unidirectional lighting capability than fluorescent and incandescent bulbs. This means that lighting provided by a LED light when focused on a single direction is efficient than that provided by its conventional counterparts. This capability proves useful in many applications, including illumination of hallways, staircases, art lighting, overhead lighting, landscape lighting, linear lighting (as in lighting areas under kitchen cabinets) and tree-lighting. With advancement in technology, more advanced versions of LED lights are being introduced. With people becoming more and more energy-conscious, the usage of LED lights continues to as increase.

Few cataract complications and their treatments
A posterior capsule opacity (PCO) is the most common among those few cataract surgery complications, including eye inflammation, infections and a dislocated IOL. The reason for a PCO comes from the lens capsule, which will be maintained during a surgery. About 20% of patients have haziness on their intact posterior capsules, so that even if the lens has been replaced with a successful IOL, the vision is still blurry. A PCO is not a “secondary cataract”. Cataracts will never recur once removed.
A PCO can be treated with a YAG laser capsulotomy, which takes a few minutes and is safe, effective and painless. During the procedure, your doctor will remove the hazy posterior capsule with a laser, eliminating any incision. Patients can resume normal activities immediately after the surgery, with the help of anti-inflammation eye drops. Only 1% of patients may suffer from a detached retina from a YAG laser capsulotomy.
Another complication for a cataract surgery can be mal-positioned IOL, which may lead to double vision or severe visual acuity decrease. There are two underlying reasons that may cause dislocated IOLs: broken capsule bag and dislocated capsule bag. Since the IOL is placed within the extremely thin capsule bag, a broken bag due to accidents may lead to dislocated IOL. The other reason comes from a dislocated capsule bag, which will surely lead to dislocated IOL.
Dislocated IOLs can also result from operational mistakes during the IOL positioning process. Once an IOL dislocation is found, a second procedure to reposition the lens will be taken soon. With proper treatment, dislocated IOLs won’t bring permanent vision problems.
Although the most severe complication may lead to vision loss, complication-free cataract surgeries account for 98% of the total. Other potential complications include minor eye inflammation, retinal detachment, retinal or corneal swelling, eye pressure increase and droopy eyelid. i had this strange tingle feeling down the left side of my face about 3 years ago and when this happened my speach slurred.? . went for mri scan and got all clear.. then my eyes vision went funny and the doctor said i had optic nueritis. so went for another mri scan and was told they found a scar. was assured it wasn,t a tumour but possibly a sclerosis scar left after an attack.? since then i,ve been free from anything else . touch wood.but the doctor explained its possible i could have ms. which is scary so any help or advise would b cool.
Lesley, I have multiple sclerosis. There are many symptoms of MS. However there are no classic first symptoms of MS. MS manifests itself differently in all of us who have it. About 50% of people who get MS start out with optic neuritis. For the rest it can be lack of balance, tingling, numbness, pain somewhere in the body, bowel problems, memory problems, cogntive problems, slurred speech, sleeping excessively or just fatigue, urinary problems and the list goes on. No two people get all the symptoms of MS or get them in the same intensity. It is not uncommon for people to experience symptoms for years or even a decade before they are finally diagnosed. The symptoms will come and go which is typical of MS in the beginning because MS generally starts out in its relapsing/remittimg form. So the fact that your symptoms have gone away means nothing. The majority of people who have optic neuritis usually get a confirmation of MS within the following year. My first sign of MS was fatigue which started more than ten years before my diagnosis. The next was optic neuritis. When I finally was diagnosed by a neurologist, I already knew I had it. I had called the National MS Society and read just about all their literature which can be downloaded from their internet site (NMSS.ORG). Now the good news. Many, many people who have MS lead normal lives. While many of us take medicines and have challanges, we lead normal lives and live normal life spans. Do you picture people who have MS as all having permanent physical problems? Well, we don't. With new medications and tons more on the horizon, MS is taking less of a toll. Now there is a form of the disease that is known as progessive MS that does take a toll on the body and can render someone helpless. On the upside it looks as though researchers are fast on the road to reverse the ravages of MS. Good luck, sweetie.

Samsung 153V LCD Monitor Power Supply Repair Tips
Troubleshooting Samsung 153V LCD power supply is just like troubleshooting those crt type. This monitor came in with no power symptom. If you are first time repairing this type of power supply, I recommend you to first remove the switch mode power transformer. Then test every single component in the primary section, before you continue to check the secondary section. You have to be good in testing basic electronic components in order to detect the fault.
You can always browse through my website just in case you do not know how to test basic electronic components. If you do not know the right way to check, you might miss out a bad component and this will lead you not able to solve the problem. After carefully checking all the components in the power supply section, I found the filter capacitor do not have any reading using digital capacitance meter (open) , the two round type fuse also open circuit, 1N4744 15 Volt zener diode short circuit and lastly the power ic TOP247F blown! Testing the switch mode power supply primary winding with a dick smith flyback tester shown green bar which indicated good winding.
What we left here were the secondary diode and filter capacitor. Upon checking them with analog meter and esr meter, found all of them to be good condition. Other area like main board and inverter board also looks okay (Power failure rarely affect these two circuit). Now we have confirmed that only five components found to be faulty. One by one the components were replaced (except one fuse) and just before you switch on the power supply, make sure you connect a 100 watt light bulb across the live ac line-refer to the photo at my website. Once it is done you can then proceed to switch on the LCD monitor to look at the brightness of the bulb.
If it very bright, this suggests that there are still short circuit somewhere in the power section. If it dim or totally goes off, you can now place your red probe to the secondary side to check if any dc present at their respective line. If there are DC voltages present at the output, you can switch off the power, discharge the filter capacitor (for safety purposes), remove the light bulb and connect back the new fuse to its original location.
You are now hundred percent sure that the LCD power supply won’t blow once you switch it on. By the way the filter capacitor is rated at 105 Celsius and you cannot replace it with the 85 Celsius type otherwise it may open up again after using for couple of weeks or months. The ventilation in LCD monitor is not as good as the cathode ray tube monitor, because the power supply is fully covered by a large aluminum plate and it can get hot pretty fast. Conclusion, whether you are repairing Samsung 153V LCD power supply or other brand of LCD monitor, the procedure is the same. Who knows the power problem in this monitor is a common fault and in the future you can tackle this brand of power supply in the shortest time. To measure electronic components is not that difficult, but to get the original parts like the power ic will consume you lots of time.
