1n4004 Diode Resistor
Diode and Resistor part numbers?
Often websites will refer to part numbers for Diodes and Resistors for Example they say use Diode part number 1N4001 or 1N4004 are these universal part numbers for Diodes and Resistors, if so where do you get this information.
1N4001 and 1N4004 are the specific part or model numbers assigned by the manufacturer to their diodes.
The reason why you see them often in schematics is because they are known to work well and people use them often.
Once you get more into electronics you will start seeing some parts that are used pretty often, such as the LM741 op-amp, the LM555 timer, etc. The letters usually refer to the company that originally manufactured the component (LM comes from National Semiconductors, SN from Texas Instruments, MC for Motorola, etc.) or the type of component.
